Feature Stories

Our ability to instantly connect with someone on the other side of the world leads to the need for global knowledge; learning about other customs, cultures, and people keeps us connected.  It was in this spirit that National Gardening Association and TechnoServe joined forces, with funding from USAID, to bring students from the United States and Ghana together.  The goal of the Making Connections Through Gardening project was to further student understanding of the role gardening plays in sustaining cultures and countries.

Students in the U.S. exchanged information, personal histories, and gardening knowledge with students in Ghana.  Through our "Ambassador Club," students from kindergarten through grade twelve accessed thematic curriculum activities, email pen pal services, and up-to-date reports from Ghana. Click on the links below to meet some of the Ghanaian students involved in this project.
